POETRY WORKSHOP AT SCHOOL

👋 Dear all,

As you all know, poetry is one of the most elegant forms of human expression. From the Iliad by Homer to the Road not taken by Frost, there is a poem for every purpose.

As with any form of writing, a poem can be hard to create but also enormously pleasant... So, up for a creative challenge? With the right approach and the necessary help, you can easily start writing a poem of your own.

Connect with other students at school in our poetry workshop with the Galician writer, Tamara Andrés, next Tuesday 3 May at 18.00 and unleash the poet in you!

I am proud to present you with the project that our school has been carrying out this year regarding idioms. In the presentation below, you will be able to see a lot of different idiomatic expressions in the different languages that you can study at school. I am particularly proud of the English section, as a lot of familiar faces appear. Please, take a look 👀 and judge for yourselves!

#WORLD BOOK DAY

We are willing to celebrate World Book Day at school for the year 2020-2021. Here are the projects that students have shared to help us find new reading adventures. If you are willing to find your next favourite book and become the perfect reader, you cannot miss the presentation below. An inspiring book can be a great therapy to cope with the end of the school year!

FANCY A BLIND DATE WITH A CLASSIC?

Love is in the air and our school library knows it. How about getting yourself a blind date with one of the vintage classics recommended on our social media? Follow us on our Twitter or Facebook accounts and indulge in a nostalgic reading experience with the hashtag #citaascegascunclasico. 

SCHOOL LIBRARY SURVEY

First and foremost, I would like to thank all the students who have already used our library service to enhance our school community life. As part of our project to improve school facilities, we would like to identify new needs to set a course for the future. We want to learn a lot more about you! Why have you used our school library and what is your experience of it? We are inviting everyone to take a bit of their time to complete the quick survey below before 21 June. We want everyone to help us make the library a place they want to be. Your insights and feedback will step up our efforts. Thanks a lot in advance!

Our school library team is back and better than ever to warm up your hearts with a wide range of blind date options to celebrate Saint Valentine's Day! Let's welcome February at the library. Who knows? You might hit it off straight away!

A COFFEE AND A CHAT AT THE SCHOOL LIBRARY

As any teacher would tell you, the classroom isn't the only place where learning happens. Extending teaching far beyond the classroom walls offers a chance to engage and empower our students. That is why I keep looking for ways to harness their interests and passions with out-of-the-classroom activities.

Last week was time for "Café con Letras", a library-based activity carried out by our school library team. We went down to the library and had a great chat over a coffee and a snack. The main topic was "stereotypes" and what lies behind them. 

I would like to thank my students for their passion and motivation every time we do this activity. It has always proved to be fun, enjoyable and a complete success!

Arousing my students' interest and curiosity at the library tables has been a pleasure. That is why I keep going every year. In fact, I am already looking forward to our next "Café con Letras" experience!

Our library has opened its doors to our traditional "Café con Letras", which has become a classic speaking activity at school that both teachers and students love. I will take advantage of this wonderful opportunity that the school library team gives us every year to move my students forward and get them to talk over a coffee and a nice snack.

I would also like to thank both my school and my students alike for their passion and motivation when carrying out this activity. It will definitely be really rewarding to find the class going on with their discussions even once the lesson has already come to an end! This is what really makes teaching worth it! Arousing my students' interest and curiosity at the library tables will be a delight. That is why I keep going every year. In fact, I am already looking forward to next week's "Café con Letras" experience! How about you?

FILM FESTIVAL AT SCHOOL: 2019

The film festival at school is dedicated to emotional films this year. As for English, INSIDE OUT will be screened in its original version with subtitles. The length of the film is 94min and it will be on next...

Inside Out is an American 3D computer-animated adventure comedy-drama by Disney/Pixar.  It was released on June 19, 2015 and tells the story of an 11-year-old girl who is reluctant to move from Minnesota to San Francisco. Let´s warm up a little by watching the trailer. I hope it makes you come to school and watch it with us!!

National Literature award-winning writer Ledicia Costas is visiting our school next 27 march. Do not miss this great opportunity to ask her about her work and discover her real self. VIRTUAL SCHOOL LIBRARY

Our library volunteers have been carrying out a great project! As a result, we now have a new virtual library at the EOI. Isn't it amazing? Visit the library, sit at one of the computers and download the free books to your e-reader, simply because reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body! Isn't that a fair enough reason to do it?

Our library has opened its doors to our traditional "Café con Letras", which has become a classic speaking activity at school that both teachers and students love. I took advantage of this wonderful opportunity that the school library team gives us every year to move my students forward and get them talk about politics over a coffee and a nice snack.

It seems obvious that the issue was tough, so we tried to analyse the results of the elections in Andalusia by making some optimistic predictions on the future of the region. Some even dared to speculate about the future in Spain!

I would like to thank my students for their passion and motivation when doing this activity. It was really rewarding to find them going on with their discussions even once the class had already come to an end! This is what really makes teaching worth it! Arousing my students' interest and curiosity at the library tables has been a pleasure. That is why I keep going every year. In fact, I am already looking forward to our next "Café con Letras" experience!  

LET'S GET INTO TRIATHLON!

The school is joining in the action in May 2019 as triathlon returns to the heart of Pontevedra. With the blue carpet set to be rolled once again for the finish line, the World Championship is our opportunity to take part and get involved in city life. We are looking for volunteers at school who might be interested in joining! So, stay tuned for more news! Coming up soon!

SONIA LEBEDYNSKI NA EOI PONTEVEDRA

Next Thursday 30 November Galician singer Sonia Lebedynski is visiting our school. She will be giving an interview at the Assembly Hall at 18.00. Don´t miss this great opportunity to know her first solo album "Deserto de Centos". I hope to see you all there!
